Battle weary? It’s hard to keep going when you don’t feel like it. For moments like this, here’s what to do.
Some days, you’re just wrung out. Maybe because you haven’t had any time to yourself. Or perhaps you’ve been thoroughly misunderstood. Some days you go so hard there’s nothing left. What can you do at times like this to recharge?
Whenever I get that low I need something out of the ordinary to get me started again. No ordinary routine will do to pull me out of the hole I’ve dug. So instead of denying I’m exhausted or trying to just keep going, I go back to basics.
Basic means rock-bottom. There is something that is at your core that needs to be fed at times like this. It might be going for a walk, or skate boarding, or watching a movie. Whatever it is, you need to go do that, as soon as you can. The funny thing is, you won’t let yourself do it, will you? You feel silly or guilty for taking care of yourself. So instead, you try to suck it up and blast through. And you end up fighting with someone you love. How smart is that?
Identify now what you will do when you feel yourself at rock bottom. Because when you’re at your lowest, you can’t even think. So plan it now: “When I hit bottom, here’s what I’m going to do.” Put that note in your wallet or on a sticky note on your screen. But put it where you can find it when you need it. And then go do it.
Have a plan to refresh yourself when you hit bottom.
I can help you find the refreshment you need, and actually do what’s good for you.
And you have a couple of options for your next step. You could contact me
and describe what you’re going through. And I’ll be in touch with suggestions. Or you can book a free session
to make a time to get together and talk it over in person. Either way, I’m here
to help you focus
, overcome resistance, and get moving again.
